Sri Lanka Holidays Rumble in the Jungle 2017

What – 4 day mountain bike stage race
Start point – Race registration Negombo, June 11th. Coach transfer June 12th. Race start Kuda Oya June 13th.
Finish point – Race finishes in Kandy June 16th. Train transfer to Negombo, beach party and prize giving June 17th.
Distance – 272km
Total Ascent – 7000m
Terrain – Muddy jungle trails, rocky jeep roads, tea plantations,steep concrete climbs, sealed sections, high mountain plateaus, river crossings, waterfalls.
Temperature range – 40c to 10c
Climate – Hot sun, tropical downpours, cool misty mountain plateaus.
For 2017, prize money (to be confirmed) for Rumble in the Jungle will be split equally between open male and open female categories, for 1st to 5th place. Age categories will not have a separate prize fund, but OVERALL (not stage) category winners (1st place only), 40-49, 50-59 and 60+ in both male and female categories will receive trophies.
Stage prizes will be awarded equally to the first male and female to win each daily stage.
Medals and event t-shirts will be awarded to all finishers.
The Rumble in the Jungle team prides itself on personal rider care and comfort.
The cabanas / hotels used during the race are the best in the area, vetted for their cleanliness and comfort. 2 meals per day are provided during all race days and these will be tailored towards the needs of endurance athletes, with big portions, heaps of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamin rich foods.
A medical team will be on standby at the hotels to advise and treat any ailments that may arise during the race, and a first aid team / sweeper vehicle will follow the race wherever possible to treat any injuries/ fatigue that may happen during a stage.
Water / Aid stations will be fully stocked with clean bottled drinking water, Torq nutritional products, including energy powder, gels and bars, together with biscuits and savoury snacks to cater for every taste. Torq Recovery powder, will be available for post ride recovery at the hotel.
A Rumble team member will always be on hand to answer / deal with any concerns that may arise during the race
Mechanical services ( at extra cost, see FAQ) will be available at the hotel for all riders requiring either a basic bike clean and lubricate, or more extensive repairs.
